Freedom through Communications
The 2016 IEEE GLOBECOM is held in Washington, DC USA in 4-8 December 2016. IEEE GLOBECOM is one of two flagship conferences of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), and is the largest annual gathering of communications engineering professionals bringing together researchers from academia, industry and governments, technical staff and industry management from all over the world. The symposia, workshops, tutorials, keynote speeches, plenary panel as well as the industry program have carefully been assembled to provide a worthwhile coverage of contemporary issues in this conference.

IEEE Workshop on Quality of Experience for Multimedia Communications (QoEMC)
QoEMC is the MMTC workshop held every year in conjunction with the IEEE Globecom conference around a hot theme in the Multimedia Communications field sponsored by the Technical Committee on Multimedia Communications of the IEEE Communications Society
Past: 2011; 2012;2013;2014;2015;
Upcoming: 2016
The Fifth IEEE International Workshop on Quality of Experience for Multimedia Communications is held in Washington, DC USA, 8 December, 2016. Firstly, there is the need to move from purely traffic-based measurement to user-oriented quality evaluation. Secondly, current user quality models are based on many assumption that do not characterize real scenarios of network and application management. Thirdly, network architectures and relevant service management procedures need to be designed so that the quality models for the different services can be plug-and-played in a flexible way in order to accommodate the highly dynamic proliferation of an increasing diversity of services. Additionally, we witness the trend of migrating end-to-end multimedia communication systems/platforms to the cloud. Furthermore, the domains of Smart Cities and the Internet-of-Things offer new opportunities and use cases, but at the same time pose new challenges for keeping users engaged and interested in related emerging applications and services.
